CELTIC reportedly made an approach for Rennes midfielder James Léa Siliki on Wednesday. The central midfielder was subject of a large bid by Porto earlier this summer which was rebuffed by the French Club according to GFFN.

If reports are true, Celtic are looking to test Rennes resolve for the midfielder but they Scottish Champions would likely have to sell their own Frenchman Olivier Ntcham to finance any deal with the Porto bid which was rejected around the €8m mark.

It seems as if the transfer fee would be the only stumbling block for Celtic’s pursuit of the player. According to Capology.com which lists all the Rennes players wages for last season and beyond, the midfielder is on € 5,923 a week at the moment. This means if Celtic were to get an offer accepted for the player, terms would be very manageable.

You could make a whole team out of the number of players linked with Celtic this summer. Until more firm reports come in about the midfielder nobody should hold their breath.
