NEIL LENNON will NOT be speaking to Sky Sports this evening after making it clear he was unhappy with the way Andy Walker spoke about the Dubai trip. In the Irishman’s eyes, Walker has spread lies about the trip.

Walker addressed the comments made by Neil Lennon on Monday on tonight’s broadcast and while he didn’t directly mention the Celtic manager, it was clear his thoughts were for directed at Lennon.

It’s safe to say Walker backtracked during his comments.

He rephrased what he sees as a jolly after his description last week inferred Celtic were away for a holiday rather than a training sessions.

Walker says that’s what he meant by a ‘jolly’. It’s all a bit pathetic from both parties, let’s just get on with things.

Of all the thinks Sky Sports have done over the years, it’s a strange hill to die on for Neil Lennon.

“Let’s stick to the facts. Celtic went on an ill-fated trip to Dubai, something that they apologised for. The up-shot of that was that they dropped 4 points against Hibs and Livingston with a weakened. All of that, self-inflicted.

“At the bottom of it, absolutely you work hard. So if anyone wants to regard that as a stag do, or some sort of Club 18-30, that’s entirely up to them”.

“There’s been a remarkable analysis of my use of the word “jolly”. I played under Billy McNeill and Tommy Burns. We went on a mid-season jolly. The purpose of it being exactly what Celtic tried to get a couple of weeks ago; warm weather training, no pressure, no games. A bit of downtime, have a beer by all means.

“I’ve got to tell you, my time at Celtic was the best of my career. I feel incredibly privileged to have played for that club. I was lucky enough to play alongside some of my heroes. So I think I know what’s required, about a season that you get the Quadruple Treble, the Invincibles.

“We’re in the here and now. Celtic have got a forlorn title hope, and they’ve got a tough game tonight against Livingston.

“Preparations have been far from ideal and they’re up against the form side in the country. I think Celtic… nothing else than 3 points will do for their supporters tonight.”

There wasn’t an apology as such, so will Neil Lennon’s boycott continue beyond this evening?

The manager has a football team to organise and this petty stuff needs to be put behind us.
