JONNY HAYES has earned his hoops tonight at the Mestalla according to many Celtic fans who have saluted the Irishman for coming into the squad and putting in a top performance in Spain.

Celtic were resolute and looked dangerous at times but a sending off for Jeremy Toljan changed the game. Even then, the bhoys dug in and gave everything for the cause. Eventually, the pressure told and Valencia got a very well worked goal.

The performance was encouraging even if the result wasn’t. Hayes wasn’t even a stick-on to start the match but he’s won many fans over with his performance.

Could an extended run in the team be warranted after this eveing>

It wasn’t just Hayes who received high praise with Kristoffer Ajer getting many plaudits for his performance. The Norweigan could have scored on another day.

Celtic move on to domestic competition now, knowing they did well on the night and competed with Valencia. If only they showed this type of performance in the first leg.

  1. Hayes ran hos ass off but anyone who gives possession away as much as he did can’t be considered MOM. Brown was head and shoulders best player on pitch alongside Parejo. Thot we deserved a draw, players gave everything despite our technical limitations HH.

  2. Stevie, I don’t recall Johnny Hayes gifting possession away to the extent that you say he did, I thought the guy was terrific tonight as was Ajer, I thought the team gave their all considering the circumstances of tonight’s game, I was proud of the team tonight. HH

  3. Hayes showed his class, and Broonywas my MoM. Never a second booking on Toljan, however everything hi di was pass back to Boyata and Ajmer.
I spilled my beer watching Boyata, his first touch was so poor. The Spaniard were on easy street, but we showed them and their fans what we were about. HH
