CELTIC’S developmental side took on the Chelsea under 23s on Thursday afternoon at the Chelsea Academy in London.
The very young Celtic side had a big test on their hand against some top talent within the ranks of Stamford bridge.
This was set up to be a big test for the lads and they came through it with flying colours. Not only did they compete but they won the game 1-0 thanks to a goal from Scott Robertson.
Jonathan Afolabi, Jack Hendry and Karamoko Dembele were among the starting XI on the day.
The club released highlights of the game onto youtube and you can have a look at Scott Robertson’s calmly taken goal where he sends one defender away to the shops before dispatching the ball into the back of the net.
The developmental side had a makeover this summer with a lot of players let go and new faces in the door. It’s about getting the best out of the young talent and potentially bringing them into the first team.
