CELTIC kept their spot at the top of the league after a 2-0 win against the visiting St Mirren. In the first half it looked like it was going to be one of those nights when the ball wouldn’t hit the back of the net for the Hoops.

In the first half Celtic hit the bar, the post, it was cleared off the line and Christopher Jullien managed to miss a free header – an easier chance than his goal against Lazio.

It was a frustrating first 45.

Celtic kept up the same intensity in the second half and the pressure finally paid off when Edouard managed to get sight of goal, he curled an effort which cannoned off the post but Mohamed Elyounoussi was there to tap it home to make it 1-0. Minutes later, Celtic would double their advantage through James Forrest. Some neat foot work in the build up saw the winger pick his spot and make it 2-0 on the night.

The result was enough to keep Celtic at the top of the table on goal difference.
