Football returned to Scotland tonight after a three-week break and Celtic and Hibs obliged with the first 2022 opener at Celtic Park.

This game started at 100 miles an hour and it was a miracle Celtic were not a goal down in the first two minutes. The Hibs forwards only had to wait a minute to regret their miss as Celtic went straight up the other end and scored.

It only took Daizen Maeda three minutes to open his Celtic goal account with this finish inside the box.

Up until the 25th minute Celtic completely dominated the game and they got their reward for all their pressure with a penalty award for handball. Juranovic doing what he does best from the spot to give Celtic a 2-0 cushion.

The Bhoys are unbeaten in 15 home league matches since a 1-2 defeat to St. Mirren in January 2021. The Hoops have scored 37 and conceded just four goals in this run.

Celtic are unbeaten in nine league matches against Hibernian (W4 D5) since a 0-2 defeat in December 2018. Hibs are winless in 14 league games at Celtic Park (D4 L10), with their last away league win over Celtic coming in January 2010.
