Ange Postecoglou handed new signing Matt O’Riley his first-team debut. If you want to endear yourself to Celtic fans, Tynecastle is not a bad place to start.

The 21-year-old joined the Hoops at the end of last week from MK Dons, and went into a new midfield lineup alongside Nir Bitton and Reo Hatate.

Only three players from the weekend’s Scottish Cup win over Alloa Athletic made the starting XI tonight. Giorgos Giakoumakis, Carl Starfelt and Joe Hart managed to keep their place for the trip to Tynecastle.

Celtic were unbeaten in 15 league matches before tonight, winning 12 and drawing three. The Hoops have managed to win seven of their last eight league games played away from home and drawn one and will be hoping to add another difficult away win to the stats tonight.

Both teams took a while to get going early on but once Celtic started to turn the screw you could feel a goal in the air. That goal came from a new signing who is fast becoming a fan favourite already, Reo Hatate.

The Japanese midfielder buried this shot from well outside the box to open his Celtic goal account on 27 minutes.

Less than ten minutes later and Giakomakis scored his second goal in two games with this poachers finish and an assist for new Bhoy Matt O’Reilly to give the Celts a 2-0 lead.

Joe Hart hasn’t had a save to make, more of the same please for the next forty-five.
