CELTIC beat St Johnstone 5-0 in a comprehensive victory in the Scottish Cup on Sunday afternoon.
A hat-trick from Scott Sinclair, along with goals for Scott Brown and James Forrest sealed Celtic’s safe passage into the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.
The Bhoys were in the mood from the off, and it only took minutes for Burke to play in Scott Sinclair for his first goal of the day, Burke’s pace and precision would be a familiar theme throughout the game.
Scott Brown would make it two with an absolute belter of a goal from around 30-yards out from goal. With the Celtic captain used seeing these shots balloon over, he even looked surprised when the ball hit the back of the net.
Next up it was James Forrest after the break with Jonny Hayes making an outstanding run from left back to play the Scottish midfielder in for another goal against St Johnstone.
Celtic’s fourth goal came from nothing, with Oli burke showing his power and pace to outrun the St Johnstone defence but then have the vision to play an inch-perfect pass for the onrushing Scott Sinclair who tapped it home for number four.
The day belonged to Celtic and Scott Sinclair when in injury time a deflected Edouard shot landed at Sinclair’s feet, and the midfielder’s confidence was there for all to see when he pulled the ball back, wrongfooting the defender before slotting it home for his hat-trick.
