Celtic centre-back Gustaf Lagerbielke started for Sweden this evening against Moldova in an international friendly. It was only the 23-year-old’s second appearance for his nation, but he marked it with a goal.
In the fortieth minute of the game, the imposing defender nodded home with power after a corner was swung right into the box:
Gustaf Lagerbielke doubles the lead!
Jesper Karlsson with a great corner-kick delivery for the assist!

It was an impressive header from Lagerbielke and a goal Celtic fans would be eager for him to recreate in green and white Hoops. He has only made a handful of appearances for the Bhoys so far, and he hasn’t been overly convincing in them at all.
He was sent off away at Feyenoord in the Champions League but this goal will provide the former Elfsborg man with a useful boost of confidence.
Up next for the Swedes after Moldova is Belgium in Euro 2024 qualifiers. Lagerbielke will be keen to keep his place in the team for that one, and one imagines he could well do so as a result of his actions this evening.
