Despite a standout 2023/24 season in which he registered 37 goal contributions across all competitions for Celtic, Matt O’Riley wasn’t included in Denmark’s Euro 2024 squad.
The 23-year-old’s omission would have undoubtedly disappointed him, and going by their performances at the competition so far, it looks as though Kasper Hjulmund’s side could do with a player the ilk of O’Riley.
The Danes drew all three of their group-stage clashes and scored the same number of goals as Scotland.
O’Riley would have made a difference if he was in Germany, but every cloud has a silver lining, and the midfielder has enjoyed a restful summer instead.
Indeed, he was recently in Mumbai with his mentor, from whom a hilarious clip emerged.
On Instagram, a video of O’Riley receiving a note which read ‘Euro 2024 sign up sheet’ emerged. Poking fun at his Denmark omission, Celtic’s in-house 2023/24 Player of the Year was in hysterics:
As the summer transfer window rages on, interest in O’Riley remains rife.
English Premier League outfit Southampton are the latest side to have been linked with Celt, but it remains to be seen whether he will leave Glasgow and pursue a new challenge or stay and win more trophies and play in the Champions League.
