Higgins, who had just secured his own place in the quarter-finals of the World Snooker Championship after a tense 13-12 victory, was quick to acknowledge Celtic’s success during his post-match interview.

When prompted by the interviewer about Celtic’s title win coinciding with his triumph on the baize, Higgins took the perfect opportunity to poke fun at Rangers. With a grin, he quipped: “I think that’s them 54 titles ahead of our rivals.”

It was a typically sharp-witted response from the Wishaw-born four-time world champion, who has never hidden his love for the Hoops.

Higgins’ comment quickly made waves among Celtic fans on social media, many enjoying the added sparkle to a day already filled with celebrations following the 5-0 demolition of Dundee United at Tannadice.

It was the fourth time that Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic have won the league with a 5-0 win, quite an impressive stat.

As Celtic continue to dominate the domestic scene and Higgins keeps his hopes alive at the Crucible, it’s clear the snooker star is enjoying every moment of the club’s latest success. His cheeky jibe only adds to the feel-good factor among the green and white.
