For most of Celtic’s players, Wednesday night’s Champions League atmosphere at Parkhead was familiar territory, but for new number one Kasper Schmeichel, it was a whole new experience.

The veteran goalkeeper, despite all his career achievements and big moments, found himself in awe of the electric atmosphere Celtic fans are famous for creating on these European nights.

As Schmeichel took his place in line, the iconic Champions League anthem blared across the stadium, but it was soon drowned out by the roar of the Celtic faithful. It’s at this moment that Celtic Park transforms into one of the most intimidating arenas in Europe, with the fans in full voice, making sure any team entering knows they’re in for a battle.

The cameras caught Schmeichel grinning from ear to ear as the noise levels rose to incredible heights. Despite being no stranger to big occasions, the 37-year-old looked genuinely taken aback by the sheer volume and energy coming from the stands. It was clear he was soaking up the atmosphere, fully embracing the moment.

For Celtic fans, it was a special sight, watching their new goalkeeper enjoying his initiation into the cauldron that is Celtic Park on a Champions League night. Schmeichel’s reaction added to the already magical atmosphere, making it a night to remember as the bhoys ran out emphatic 5-1 winners.

What a night!
