Kyogo Furuhashi’s strike in Celtic’s 3-0 victory over Hibernian at Celtic Park on December 7 has earned the Japanese striker the Scottish Premiership’s Goal of the Month accolade for December 2024.

The goal was a standout moment in a dominant performance by Brendan Rodgers’ side.

James Forrest threaded the ball through to Kyogo, who took a great touch before chipping the ball into the back of the net.

Kyogo’s recent form has been a significant boost for Celtic. The forward followed up his award-winning goal with a brace in Celtic’s emphatic 4-0 win over St Johnstone, showcasing his deadly precision in front of goal.

Despite a slower start to the season by his own high standards, Kyogo has now reached double figures with 10 goals across all competitions.

Brendan Rodgers has consistently backed Kyogo despite earlier spells where the goals didn’t flow as freely. Speaking after the St Johnstone victory, Rodgers praised his striker’s clinical touch:

“Two very good goals. I’m not necessarily concerned about players scoring goals or not. My teams have always had goals shared around the team. But it is important for strikers to hit the back of the net because that’s what they want, and it was a couple of very good finishes from Kyogo.”

Kyogo’s contributions have been vital as Celtic continue to assert their dominance in the Scottish Premiership. With 52 goals scored and only four conceded in 18 league matches, the Hoops are flying high, sitting 14 points clear of Rangers at the top of the table.

Hopefully, Kyogo takes his scoring boots to Ibrox on Thursday when he faces a team that he’s always enjoyed a few against.
