Neil Lennon spent his Celtic career as a holding midfielder. He went box to box like a rabid dog to get the ball back for his team and kept possession with the foundations of football. A bit like Scott Brown has been doing for over a decade in the Hoops.
Brown has popped up with two very important goals in the last couple of weeks for Celtic. The first one was a screamer from outside the box. The second one might not have been so pretty but it has prompted a new terrace chant dedicated to its importance. (video below..)
Celtic fans always want the likes of Brown and Lennon to get in on the goals. What’s seldom is wonderful. Lennon scored a famous goal against Dunfermline in a 1-8 win for the Bhoys. It was famous because it prompted all his teammates to pile on the number 18. It’s more of a positional thing rather than a skill thing that the likes of Broony and Lennon don’t get their names on the scoresheet more. Broony proved this in the last few weeks.
Lennon has proved on Soccer AM that he is actually a born free kick specialist.

With players like Larsson and Lubo in his Celtic team, Lennon was always going to have a job on his hands convincing anyone he should be taking free kicks. Maybe Scott Brown needs to do the Soccer AM challenge.
