It has been a difficult road after a very frustrating and uncertain winter transfer saga for Andrew Gutman. He was signing for Celtic then seemed to disappear, then he signed to go back to the States on loan. When he got to the States his loan deal got ripped up and the player was left in Limbo.
Meanwhile, ex-Celtic coach, Jim McGuinness was taking the reigns at Charlotte Independence in his first role as a “Soccer Manager”. McGuiness took the young defender on loan to keep him stateside.
Despite a 3-2 loss for the Charlotte’s Gutman managed to get himself his first professional goal. He did get on the score sheet 20 times while playing college soccer for the Indiana Hoosiers, the Bhoy clearly has an eye for goal.

Gutman will return to Celtic in the summer where the Hoops will have a massive recruitment drive on especially for defenders. As it stands, Boyata, Benkovic & Lustig could all walk out the door at Celtic Park this summer. Gutman could get his chance sooner than he thinks.
