After securing an impressive 1-1 draw against Celtic last Friday night, Scott Brown’s Ayr United took on Kilmarnock in a local derby yesterday.
It was the gaffer’s first experience of the Ayrshire rivalry and he emerged victorious, much like he continually did in Glasgow for Celtic against Rangers.
Ayr hosted the match and came away deserved 3-2 victors, goals from George Stanger, Marco Rus, and Anton Dowds securing a memorable triumph for the Honest Men.
In the Killie camp, there was a disastrous debut for new signing Robby McCrorie. The ‘keeper joined the Rugby Park side from Rangers earlier this week but shipped three on his debut.
Indeed, when Ayr’s third goal of the night went in, they trolled McCrorie by playing ‘Zombie Nation’ on the PA system. We all know what it was a dig at:
Top quality trolling from the Ayr United DJ last night – playing "Zombie Nation" after Kilmarnock's recent signing, ex-Rangers "wonderkid" Robbie McCrorie, conceded a third goal in a disastrous debut.
I wonder if the influence of former Celtic star Scott Brown played a part. pic.twitter.com/wUWeKA4e0A

With Ayr, Brown has been quietly succeeding. He came in halfway through last season and steered the club to Championship safety.
Now ahead of 2024/25, with some smart signings, he is gearing up for an assault at getting the Honest Men back to the top flight for the first time since 1978.
