The Hoops are looking to bounce back after their first loss of 2022 Thursday night in the Europa Conference against Bodo/Glimt. The Bhoys are back on league duty and are looking to keep the top spot with a win against today’s visitors Dundee, who sit at the bottom of the table.

Celtic are unbeaten in 34 league meetings with Dundee (W28 D6), winning each of the last five in a row. Dundee has lost 15 of their last 17 league visits to Celtic (D2) since a 2-0 win in May 2001.

Celtic’s domestic form has been red hot, unbeaten in 20 league matches, winning each of their last seven games in a row. They last won eight league fixtures in succession from January to February 2020.

Celtic came out of the traps fairly quickly today and with two strikers on the pitch they hunted down the first goal.

The Bhoys had a lot of possession and the first chance fell to Giakoumakis on the tenth minute. A brilliant move by Celtic led to McGregor setting up the striker on the edge of the six-yard box but the big Greek had a horrible connection to screw the ball wide.

Maeda had a headed chance just before the twenty-minute mark but once again a bad connection on the ball made it easy for the Dundee keeper.

His fellow countryman nearly scored a screamer moments later. Reo Hatate took a full swivel before catching the ball on the volley but sent the ball wide.

Completely against the run of play on the 25th minute Dundee win a corner and Danny Mullen was left completely unmarked and unchallenged to give the visitors the lead.

A swirling wind becomes evident with any high balls and it was a swirling cross into the box that led to a scramble in the box before big Gia spun to finish this shot.

The big Greek has been threatening to get in amongst the goals for the last few games you just felt if he could bag a few goals in a game the big man would start battering them in.

It only took another few minutes for Giakoumakis to get that second goal after this ball from Maeda. 2-1 to Celtic and Giakoumakis is on a hat trick.

There was a lot of talk of penalties in Dundee today and that talk can continue into this game against Dundee, Celtic with a double claim at the end of the half. One stone Waller on Giakoumakis and another on Juranovic.

  1. This has been an abject performance from Celtic. I don’t see where a third goal is coming from. The League is lost if 3 points are not secured here. How many corners do Celtic need to score 1 goal. They must take 40 corners and don’t score from any of them . It is pathetic. Every player has been crap today even CCV. Champions do not drop points to the bottom club with about ten games to go. Horrible performance. Quite shameful with all that was to be won.
