ALAN THOMPSON has given some insight into being a Celtic player when they’re deep in enemy territory. Thompson was a big part of the O’Neill era and scored some important goals for the club, one cracker against our Glasgow rivals at Celtic Park stands out above all else.

Taking to social media this morning, Thommo told how the hate from the terraces in Govan spurred them on. The former Celtic star tagged the likes of Sutton, Hartson, McNamara and Petrov and revealed they all loved to receive the abuse because it pushed them on a lot of the time.

Petrov was once hit by a drink after scoring a goal against our old enemy, however, he shrugged it off and kept going.

Derby days were special for these players and they never shrunk from the challenge, they didn’t always win but they always battled for the jersey during any given game.
