Celtic scored at the end of the first half thanks to talisman and fan favourite Kyogo Furuhashi but were pulled back from a Ross County penalty in the second half. However, the bhoys regained the lead again through the Japanese striker before Engels and McCowan added to the score line in added on time.

The 31-year-old was quoted by SunSport, he said:

“It’s another one we’ve just got to tick off. It was challenging conditions, but we were really good value for the win.

”The reaction was superb. The boys flipped the tempo. We flipped the switch a wee bit and started to speed up the game.”

The Parkhead club now sit 15 points ahead of their main rivals, Rangers having won their last two games against Dundee United and Ross County after the 3-0 defeat in the Derby at Ibrox.

McGregor added how the players have reacted since the defeat to Ranger at New Year:

“ The boys have been Fantastic. We’re being driven by a lot of good players, so we know what the level is.”

Brendan Rodger’s team will now be setting their sights on Tuesday night’s game away at Dundee, having won the last five matches and collectively scoring 17 goals against The Dark Blues, with their last victory being a 2-0 win at Parkhead.

It’s been a hectic schedule for Brendan Rodgers’ men. With no winter break this year, it’s seen Celtic play right through January. The trip to Dens Park, which hoisted a 1-1 draw with Rangers just days ago, is Celtic’s third match in six days.
