LIAM HENDERSON and his side Hellas Verona overturned a 2-0 deficit in the first leg of their Serie A playoff final to win 3-0 in the return leg to ensure their promotion to the top table of Italian football.

Former Celtic star Liam Henderson who has carved a fantastic career for himself in Italy has been instrumental in their success.

The young lad from Scotland decided to up sticks and leave for a new adventure after being told by Brendan Rodgers he was surplus to requirements at Celtic.

Instead of floating about Scottish football like many or heading down south the midfielder took a chance, leaving his friends and family to go over to Italy.

A six-month stint at Bari before their financial meltdown gave Liam the platform and the opportunity to join Verona and after just one season with the club the player will become just the fourth Scottish player to play in Serie A.

Henderson, draped in a Scottish flag at full time on Sunday night in Italy was snapped by Verona’s social media team who sent this message.

Celtic still have a very big connection with the Henderson family with Liam’s younger brother Ewan working his way through the ranks at Celtic Park. Eewan has had some meaningful game time in the past 12 months.
