Kyogo didn’t get on the scoresheet on Sunday against Aberdeen, but if you want to show a young player how to work for your team – get them to watch the Celtic striker.

The Japanese star was everywhere on the pitch, constantly harassing defenders and wouldn’t allow the goalkeeper any time on the ball. Ange’s high press is in full swing with Kyogo leading the charge.

It can be frustrating for the wee man, he can be marked out of the game with such a low block played against Celtic week after week, he’s not always going to get joy in front of goals but he will certainly be a constant pain with his movement and speed.

It was very telling Ange didn’t bring Kyogo off until the very end of the game. Not wanting to replace Kyogo’s energy with the lethargy Ajeti can bring.

We have to be careful with Kyogo because he’d played a good amount of the season with Vissel Kobe in Japan before moving to Celtic. Given his energy and the way he’s being asked to play, burnout could be around the corner.

It’s pivotal Ange brings in another energetic player like Kyogo who can help share the burden. Ajeti should be moved on in January if possible, making room for another striker.

Yokohama Marinos frontman Daizen Maeda fits the criteria, but will Celtic manage to land Ange’s former player?

  1. He makes excellent runs but none of our players are quick enough to react to make the pass to him, hardly ever a ball over the top and most are too cautious to make anything but a square pass. We need a playmaker who is up to speed of thought with him.

  2. 100 % , wee man would thrive with quality target man to take weight off, The Dazzler you mentioned is a belter, Mr Miyagi ( to moi )…he.ll be perfect choice, Hunz on, Hunz off…

  3. Kyogo is Larsson -esk. .Highlights don’t show the work ethic which both display .
Lots of our young fans at games see it .Hopefully ,they want to copy him and we in the future get, even just one, like him in the Academy then that is a bonus
