LIEL ABADA burst onto the Celtic scene at the beginning of the season and quickly became an important member of the first team.

When the lad was initially signed, many fans were worried he was another work in progress – he is – but a work in progress that can contribute to the team while he learned and grows.

However, we have to remember his age sometimes, I’ve saw a few people critical of Liel’s performances over the last few games and it’s worth noting he’s going to have his down periods. All young players can have a level of inconsistency and confidence can also play a big part.

The player has low involvement in build up play, it’s in the final third he comes to life and getting into the box where he can put balls into dangerous areas is where Abada has excelled.

Liel is the only real option we have on the right wing at present. The player will greatly benefit from a fully fit James Forrest back in the squad.

If both of them are time sharing the role, it allows Liel the space to grow as a player without being overly exposed. James coming back into the team will also give Celtic a different dynamic down the right and another great option.

Liel can be our present and our future, but James still has a massive part to play for Celtic.

  1. The lad is progressing well, still early in his development but he will just keep getting better. He has a great delivery and sniffs chances. For me he’s been a very good signing and let’s not forget he’s had to fill the role without somebody giving him a rest now and again

  2. Might be a reflection of the squad size. Young Abada does have a bit to work on in the technique area of his game but I’d say he’s well up for it. We’re a team under pressure mind albeit it’s beginning to ease.
