Scott Brown posted a Friday morning message after he captained Celtic to a 2-0 victory against Cluj in the Europa League.

The central midfielder put in a man of the match performance as Celtic dominated the game and outplayed their Romanian counterparts.

There have been so many superlatives used to describe Celtic players after last night but not many have mentioned Scott Brown’s contributions because we’re so used to it but the player was the catalyst for the result in many ways.

In the thick of it, doing his usual job of breaking up potential attacks, winning the ball and getting it to players in advanced positions. He was all over the park making sure Celtic had the ball. It was a real captains performance by the 32-year-old who continues to defy his critics.

A great message from our captain who knows now the focus must immediately turn to Sunday with a big game looming away to Livingston.

The SPFL outfit are a very organised team and Celtic will be playing on their artificial surface. The bhoys must look to get all three points on the day after their draw with Hibernian on Sunday.

  1. Brown is 34, not 32, and while he has a great engine and covers a lot of the pitch he can’t go on forever. At the end of the season he’ll be 35, before we kick off the qualifiers in the summer.

I think we lose dynamism with him in the team, given how technically good our other midfielders are in comparison. Personally think we need to start phasing him out.

  2. Browny is the the best captain Celtic has had since Billy McNeil . And has been the reason Celtic have had so much success in the last ten years . Everybody hates him or rates him . And he is the heart and soul of Celtic . There is only one Scott Brown and when he’s away he will be missed big time . Never underestimate what he bring to the best football team in Scotland. He made history treble treble that will never be done again a think so God bless the browny legend ?
