The talk before the Ferencvaros game was inevitability about the time of kick off and if the Celtic fans would be able to turn up in their numbers to help the team on to victory.

As I walked up to the stadium early afternoon, there was no doubt in my mind there was going to be a massive crowd. Given the time of day, the new vaccine passport setup and the pandemic in general – Celtic Park had over 50k inside the ground.

The dark, dull October sky actually helped the atmosphere. Shortly before kick off, it did start to feel like a European night because of the clouds hanging over Celtic Park.

The fans brought it! And that can’t be underestimated. We take it for granted the Celtic fans will always be here, but if there was a time when that assertion would be tested – it was today.

Celtic put on a second half show for the fans and must have been bowled over by the efforts of each and every individual who made sacrifices to get to the game. There will be people missing a days pay, school, uni and other commitments to make sure they got along to make it such a special afternoon at Celtic Park.

I think we’ll remember this game for quite some time. The Jota show flanked by the Celtic support, magic!
