The Hoops were thumped 7-1 by Borussia Dortmund last night as they suffered yet another humbling on the biggest stage of them all.

Emre Can, Karim Adeyemi, Serhou Guirassy, and Felix Nmecha all scored for the hosts in an evening to forget for Glasgow’s green and white.

The Bundesliga giants were able to easily expose a Celtic team who, from the off, looked spooked.

Brendan Rodgers’ men were second to every ball and failed to make a considerable impact on the match.

A trip to Ross County beckons this weekend before we enter the season’s second international break.

Celtic bouncing back in Dingwall on Sunday is critical, and defender Alistair Johnston has vowed to ensure the problems are soon solved.

The Canadian admitted last night’s thrashing won’t ‘wobble’ the team and that they will remain calm and professional and find solutions.

“We’ll get it sorted out,” he said (BBC).

“It’s a really confident group that we have here, we’re not going to let this, you know, kind of wobble us at all.

“We’ve got build on it and understand that it’s happened, but it can’t happen again.”

With Atalanta and RB Leipzig up next in Europe, Celtic must improve.

Things aren’t getting any easier on the continent for the Scottish Premiership champions, who, under Rodgers’ stewardship, are used to suffering thrashings off big sides.

The Parkhead boss has now conceded six goals on four different occasions in the Champions League in charge of the Celts. Questions must be asked.
