Celtic are willing to listen to offers for bhoys defender Stephen Welsh, so here is a look at what it could potentially mean for the other centre backs at the club.
The most recent arrival Yuki Kobayashi has appeared on the bench for the Hoops in the previous two games and may be in line to make his debut in the Scottish Cup against Greenock Morton in just over two weeks time.
He has been tipped by many to eventually make the breakthrough into the Japanese national team which he will be hoping his performances at Celtic reflect the opportunity to do so.
Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt’s defensive partnership at the club has been a solid foundation under Ange Postecoglou.

Incredibly, they have until present started 38 league matches together and never tasted defeat in any of them. At this point it would take a lot for this central defensive union to be broken.
Moritz Jenz played a considerable amount of football in the first part of the season which was likely down to Starfelt being out for so long with an injury. The Frenchman is only on loan to the club until the end of the season but looks keen to extend his say. It is unknown whether the club would be interested in doing this.

Youngster Bosun Lawal has been training with the first team and been in and around the squad regularly lately which could indicate that if Welsh goes he could be given the chance to make the step up from the B team.
Football can be all about timings and although Ange Postecoglou appears to like Welsh, he needs to play first team football to continue his development and it may be best for both parties if he decides to leave the club.
