Celtic women go into a vital Glasgow derby tomorrow night against Rangers women.

The ghirls sit five points off first and second in the SWPL; Glasgow City and Rangers sit first and second at the moment.

A win would put Celtic right back in the mix while a defeat or draw would make it very difficult for the Hoops to stay in the title race.

Celtic are underdogs coming into the tie. Rangers have invested massively in their full time set up and it’s up to the ghirls to beat the odds as they did back in November.

On that day, Celtic ran out 1-0 winners after scoring a 90th minute penalty against their fierce rivals.

We spoke with Fran Alonso before the crunch tie.

“We want to win every single game. Tomorrow we have the ambition to take all three-points.” Alonso confirmed. “We’re not going to be intimidated by any opposition, although we respect them and know they are very good. Success, when you represent Celtic, is winning and second is not good enough.

“I anticipate a very good football game. Both sides have a lot of quality players, both like to play good quality football and the pitch is perfect.”

The game will air live on BBC Alba on the evening with a 7:35pm Kick off time.

Celtic are coming off a 5-1 win against Spartans, making it back to back wins after their 3-0 victory over Hearts.

The first game after the restart saw the ladies beat convincingly by the dominant Glasgow City. It will be up to Fran and his players to show they have the appetite to challenge for a Champions League spot or go one further.

The top two teams will qualify for the prestigious tournament, right now, Celtic have work to do.
