West Ham United have reportedly made an improved offer for Celtic striker Daniel Cummings after previously having had a bid rejected for the Scottish forward.
Having previously bid £500,000, the Hammers are looking to seal a deal for Cummings, who made his Celtic debut on Wednesday against Aston Villa in the Champions League before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
Anthony Joseph reports on X that, “West Ham have made an improved offer for Celtic striker Daniel Cummings. If the latest bid is rejected, it’s understood that #WHUFC will finalise the pre-contract agreement for a move in the summer.”
For Celtic, it’s a case of accepting West Ham’s new bid or losing Cummings in the summer on a free transfer—with a compensation fee of around £300,000 if he doesn’t leave before the deadline.
English journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Celtic is asking for £750,000 for Cummings. Jacobs said: (talkSPORT), “Daniel Cummings [is] on their radar as well – the young Celtic striker – but an offer from West Ham for £500,000 has been rejected.
“£750,000 is the number I’ve been given that might get that over the line.”
It’s not the ideal situation for Celtic, as Brendan Rodgers addressed Cummings’ Hoops future yesterday. The Irishman revealed that he believed the Celtic B striker’s agent is playing a large role in the potential move to join Graham Potter’s side.
With Kyogo having left Celtic over the last week to join Ligue 1 side Rennes, the Hoops look set to lose another striker. With a new forward yet to sign, Rodgers and the Celtic hierarchy will be working tirelessly to get a new striker in before the deadline.
