We’ve been keeping a close eye on Celtic’s defensive targets from the summer and for those keeping up to date, you can officially strike Mark McKenzie off the list of potential solutions.
The American’s move to Genk was confirmed this in the last hour, ending any chance we had of landing the young centre-back.
'We got him!' ?

Celtic could have signed McKenzie in the summer for a much smaller fee than Genk managed to negotiate but the club decided Shane Duffy coming in on loan was the priority.
Hindsight is great but we are now in major need of a top centre-back and Shane Duffy is toiling as reported by Glasgow Times.
The bhoys defensive record has been their undoing this year, between the lack of leadership at the back and uncertainty in goals, the team have shipped far too many goals which has cost us in vital games this term.
McKenzie fit into our transfer model well but it became clear he was going to cost more in January than he did in the summer and that’s when Celtic have likely bowed out of the chase.
Some fans on social media are less than pleased the club have slipped up in the market.
