CELTIC won the lot again last season but the standard had slipped from previous seasons and the performances were poor as well as the results.

Towards the end of the Brendan Rodgers era, the bhoys struggled through games – we were just lucky so did other teams around us!

Had we been in the sort of form we were last season after 17 games, we’d be five points off the pace.

Taking a snapshot of the SPFL table as it currently sits after Celtic playing 17 games, we looked at our first 17 games last season and there’s a jaw dropping difference.

Celtic have scored 11 more goals, conceded one less but most importantly have won 15 games this term with one draw and one loss. Compared to last season where we won only 11 of our first 17 games; drawing the other three and losing just as many.

That sort of form wasn’t sustainable this term and Neil Lennon recognised that. The Neil Lennon effect or Lennon Ball as we liked to call it has meant Celtic have been at it from. The blip between the Hibernian and Livingston games looking more and more like an anomaly than the standard.

Simply put, with The Rangers playing much better this term and getting more results – there’s plenty down Ibrox way thinking ‘what do we have to do!’.

Celtic are rising to the challenge.
