Sometimes life has an added bonus with respect to some things and our social media team brought up a great point and ‘bonus’ after watching Scott Bain grow into his Celtic jersey in the Mestalla.

Celtic may not have won the game but they took a lot of pride in their performance, Brendan Rodgers and the fans could not fault their efforts in Spain and understand the referee played a big part in the overall outcome of the game.

What was clear to see during the game was there were some BIG performances from some players who haven’t yet solidified themselves as proper first choice.

Scott Bain, however, came of age in Spain with a string of incredible saves to keep the bhoys in it for as long as they were.

The Scottish goalkeeper took the gloves from Craig Gordon after the winter break and has yet to concede domestically.

The added bonus of this bhoy coming of age is not just we managed to get him on a free but we managed to get him on a free because former Dundee boss exiled the player to the Dundee reserves at the end of 2017 and put the wheels in motion for an unlikely Celtic move.

Bain has come from back-up deadline day signing to first team star within a year at the club. What an effort on his part and it’s also credit to Stevie Woods and Brendan Rodgers for bringing the player’s game up even more.

Neil McCann didn’t rate him. What a f***in idiot.
