‘Revenge’ is on Joe Inge Berget’s mind tonight as he lines up against Celtic a year on from wearing the famous Hoops.

Revenge? Is he serious?

Celtic gave him a chance last summer when Cardiff City weren’t interested in the player. Ronny brought him in and gave him an opportunity to make his mark in a team that was under high construction.

Last year Celtic were in such a transitional phase that if you were good enough you would get in th team on a regular basis.

Joe came in, he scored a couple of league goals then didn’t show much else. Slowly falling down the pecking order till he was shipped back to Cardiff in January of this year.

The attacking midfielder didn’t have what it took to be a regular in Ronny’s starting XI and the boss cut his loan period short so he could go in search of first team football.

He left with many Celtic fans best wishes and he has since found a home at Malmo.

But the player wants revenge!

“It started when we did poorly in the Champions League qualifiers, but had some luck from Legia [Warsaw]. Then we went out against Maribor.

“I got a good start in the league with two goals in the first home game.

“After that there were not a lot of games [for me].

“I hope I can take some revenge.”

We are not looking for revenge tonight on Berget for a flimsy showing in Hoops but hey a Champions League bounty would re-coup some of the wages we wasted on him!
