Some may Celtic have been pretty quiet on the transfer front as a whole this window. It seemed to explode into life yesterday when the Scottish Champions paid a sizeable transfer free to procure Olivier Ntcham from Manchester City on a four-year deal.

However, Celtic’s summer has been full of activity. Only three players have come in the door, but there’s been a queue of players using the exit door at Celtic Park since the curtain came down on the Invincible season – no less than nineteen in fact.

Brendan Rodgers made no secret that he wanted to cut the size of his player pool since coming in at Celtic Park. Choosing quality over quantity in his shake-up behind the scenes at Celtic Park.

That begs the question, with nineteen players already gone is there more to come before the window closes next month?

Celtic are expected to make another two signings this window above the three that have already come in- this means it’s more than likely that players currently training for the new season won’t be here come September 1st.

The players in the firing line will be feeling the heat after GMS was sold to Aberdeen yesterday, and show them Rodgers isn’t messing around.

Three players who look more than likely to move on are –

Nadir Ciftci
Dorus De Vries
Nir Bitton

Nadir for obvious reasons, Dorus would like to leave for first team football, and Nir Bitton fancies a Premier League move. With Ntcham coming in, the Israeli falls further down the midfield pecking order.

Then there’s the will he won’t he saga of the protracted Stuart Armstrong negotiations. If Celtic see a stalemate happening there is every chance they will cash in on the player this window as Stuart would be able to talk to other clubs in January.

Kristoffer Ajer and Eboue Kouassi are two wild cards when it comes to a move away. Both players have not managed to fight their way into Rodgers plans yet, the first few games of the new season will give us an insight into if the Irishman is prepared to give them a chance. If they don’t make the squad more than once, they may find themselves out on on-loan before long. Liam Henderson is another player who would fall into that category.

For most Celtic fans, the biggest thing Celtic could do right now is to settle Stuart Armstrong’s future.

  1. As far as I’m concerned the Armstrong situation has been running too long sell him just nobody is bigger than Celtic or should hold the club to ransom and he will realise after he has gone that the grass isn’t always greener

  2. Armstrong saga is going on too long, would love to see him sign a new contract but the longer it drags on the more chance is he is offski.

  3. Put up or shut up Gary. You n
eed Celtic more than we need you. BTW get rid of the parasite (agent) with your background if you cannot negotiate on your own behalf then you ought to chuck it.

  4. Stuart you should have a good think, your career was going nowhere till Brendan came in and developed you.He got you international recognition, you have had one good season at Celtic if you think you wouldn’t benefit from another season or two with Brendan and the team, then good luck to you.???
