A year ago today, Neil Lennon guided Celtic to a treble treble at Hampden when Odsonne Edouard put Hearts to the sword.

At the time, Neil was just the interim manager knowing nothing but perfection would land him the job full time again. He met his remit when he came in for Brendan Rodgers at the end of February and at full time was offered the job by Peter Lawwell in the showers of the Hampden dressing room.

Celtic quickly put out the message they had offered the job to Neil while the confetti was still settling on the Hampden pitch and supporters were partying in the streets.

The news wasn’t received well by a lot of people who wanted a more ambitious appointment. Even I had reservations about the move to appoint Neil on a full-time basis.

The Celtic supporters were indulging in fantasy booking when other managers were becoming available during Neil’s interim run. The move for a lot of people was underwhelming. A year on, it’s safe to say Neil Lennon has shut us all up and I couldn’t be more delighted.

Let’s take a look back at some of the Celtic fans instant reactions.

Of course, there was plenty of support for Neil Lennon too. He has led the club to nine in a row and will now take his team into next season where an historic ten could be on the cards.

  1. Celtic have had a decent season and we have been blessed with the collapse of The Rangers since the winter break. Head to head with Rangers we have been poor. Celtic have had some good wins in Europe and some awful results. Yes its wonderful to beat Lazio home and away but we failed to make the Champions League which was a major failure and losing 3-1 to Copenhagen extremely poor.

However 9 in row will mask all the problems we have but they are still there and time will tell if we have overcome them especially in the big games.

Yes it has been a good season but far from a great season even though the current standards of the SPFL are poor 10 IAR is not a given.
