NEIL LENNON has singled out Southampton loan star Mohamed Elyounoussi for the player’s contributions during the win against Cluj on Thursday night.
The winger got on the scoresheet but his all-round display had Neil Lennon purring after the game.
Celtic were in a dominant mood against Cluj and imposed their will on the game from the start. The pleasing thing for Neil Lennon was nobody had a bad game with several excelling at the same time.
Asked if his bhoys can continue to perform as they did against Cluj and make Celtic Park a fortress again the Irishman told the BBC website it’s something he wants to do:
“That’s the challenge and that’s what we’ve thrown down to the players,”
“Can we improve on our record, particularly in the group stages?
“Well, they’ve started off well tonight, but I was really pleased with the all-round performance and Mohamed Elyounoussi was fantastic from start to finish tonight.”
Mohamed is on loan from Southampton and looks like he’s really loving his football again. Could Neil Lennon persuade the player and his parent club his future lies at Celtic Park? With the St Mary’s side £16m (transfermarkt) in the hole for Mohamed – it would take a lot of negotiating. Ultimately – we should enjoy Mohamed while he’s here.
Celtic go into the doubleheader with Lazio in a good place. The Italian side will visit Celtic Park first before the return leg in Rome.
Celtic have been playing some great stuff and haven’t looked out their depth thus far in the competition. From smashing AIK to going toe to toe with Rennes and beating Cluj at the second time of asking.
