Celtic fans are just breathing a sigh of relief this week after numerous reports suggested that Arsenal was withdrawing their interest in fan favourite Kieran Tierney.

Napoli has been in the picture for the Scotland left-back and the rumour was that they would match any bid from the Londoners that was accepted by Celtic. Unlike Arsenale, Napoli certainly has money to spend but they never made an official offer that we know about.

Carlo Ancelotti was allegedly keen to move Mario Rui on and bring in KT. But the player has come out today and is pretty adamant he is going nowhere and that there had never been a conversation about him leaving Napoli.

“Everyone is free to express their opinion,” he told TuttoNapoli .

“I’ve always been calm, from the boss (Ancelotti) to the club, no-one has ever told me that I’m available for sale.

“The club and the coach have always backed my desire to stay at Napoli, and I feel good.”I get on well with the group and the people, and I hope to continue like this.”

It is not beyond the realms of possibility that the Seria A giants were bringing Tierney in as an eventual replacement to Mario Rui or indeed that Mario would play back up to the Celtic left-back.

Celtic fans will be happy for the window to close and Kieran Tierney to be still a Celtic player.
