The fallout from the Auston Trusty incident at Hampden continues, but the latest development will do little to please Rangers fans.
According to Record Sport, referees’ chief Willie Collum is set to stand by Nick Walsh and VAR official Andrew Dallas over their handling of the controversial flashpoint during Celtic’s League Cup semi-final win.
Collum is understood to fully support the on-field and VAR decision to issue Trusty a yellow card rather than a red, agreeing with their conclusion that the Celtic defender’s boot flick lacked the force and intent required for serious foul play.
The decision sparked outrage from Rangers, who have since taken their frustrations to the SFA for further clarification. And will do so again.
However, Collum’s stance effectively leaves Walsh and Dallas in the clear as far as their own bosses are concerned.
The debate isn’t over yet, though. The incident is expected to feature in depth on The VAR Show, which will air Friday night following the Women’s Glasgow Derby, which is due to come off air at 21.30.
It’s another twist in a saga that has kept Scottish football talking for nearly two weeks now, but Celtic’s camp will feel vindicated after Collum’s backing, while Rangers are unlikely to be satisfied with the outcome.
Hypocrisy FC and their so-called fans have done a lot of talking over this incident. They do not have the ability to be fair in their assessments, due to their sense of entitlement. Only the bigots among their followers agree with them.
