A lot has been made of James Forrest return to form and how it has cushioned the blow of losing Patrick Robert’s to a bad injury.

The Englishman has returned to Manchester City to receive treatment for a hamstring injury. The time frame for Patrick’s return is around three months which will cut it tight for the player to return to full fitness and finish off the season with Celtic.

Celtic struggled on Tuesday night against Anderlecht and found it very difficult to get on the ball and make things happen. The first half was a write-off and the second half we did look more lively with Forrest coming more into the game.

Would Patrick Roberts have made a difference to the result last night had he been on?

The player’s quick feet and sharp mind could have made a difference to Celtic’s attacking prowess. However, he may have had to defend for large periods of the game like Forrest did who was sometimes operating as a full back.

A player like Paddy is someone who could look lost for 60 minutes then pull something out of nowhere to win the game. Had he been on, Anderlecht may have been under more pressure.

It’s just unfortunate we couldn’t call on the player.

  1. No I don’t believe so, in my opinion the game bypassed for most of first half, great subs at HT, but when we lost the goal it seems the order was Park the bus, no fault of James Forrest, I’m getting disillusioned with BR in Europe
