Gabby Agbonlahor has went out his way to put down both Celtic’s potential summer signings and men who have come in and helped transform the club.

For whatever reason, the former Aston Villa man has branded Jota and CCV as average and made it clear neither would be too 10 players in England.

What a stupid comment to make. Another pundit who can’t see past the English Premier League.

The plethora of talent on show in the EPL means no, they’re not in the top 10, but there’s lots of great players who wouldn’t meet that criteria.

Jota and CCV have had great seasons. Especially in the case of Jota, the winger has the chance to really go places in the game if he continues to develop.

Gabby is hitting Celtic with a back handed compliment – saying both should stay at Celtic but not because it’s best for their career at this point but because they won’t be able to do much better.

The former EPL man cites Champions League football is the biggest attraction for anyone signing for Celtic. It will be, but the Hoops are so much more than 6 games between September and December.

“Oh, Champions League football makes you very attractive,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider.

“You get the money in and you know you’re going to attract better players. It’s great news for Celtic.

“I think they’ll be able to keep Carter-Vickers and Jota. They will be able to offer the players Champions League football. That’s a big thing for players.

“For me, I don’t think they are better than Celtic. I don’t think Jota plays in the Premier League, he’s not a top-10 Premier League player. I don’t think Carter-Vickers is either.

“If Jota looked elsewhere I don’t think he gets into a top-f10 Premier League club.

“Celtic is the perfect fit for him. He’s going to get Champions League football so it’s a no brainer to stay there.”

Gabby spent his career in England and like most players who done so – they really don’t have a grasp on Celtic or the Scottish game.
