NEIL LENNON hasn’t ruled out Celtic moving for a backup striker in January after he revealed Bay has been sent for a scan while Leigh Griffiths is not fully fit to take his place on the bench.

The game against St Mirren on Wednesday night would have been an ideal time to play either and let Edouard have a rest for the Hibernian game at Hampden on Saturday but the Frenchman will start both matches now being the only fit striker.

Leigh hasn’t played since August and Bayo has been used sparingly to this point with many not convinced he is the answer.

If Celtic do get to January and are still having the same problems then a striker coming in on loan at least would make sense.

Speaking about his striker Neil Lennon told Celtic TV: It may be an area we’ll look at. We are a little bit short there with only one currently at the minute, Edouard, who is fully fit.

“You get anxiety around Edouard because he is a quality player and you don’t want to lose him at any time.

“You don’t want to lose Odsonne for any games because he is so pivotal to the way we play.

“We’d have to manage it if that eventuality comes around. If it is the case, hopefully Bayo, Griffiths and a couple of others could slot in there.

“Mikey can do it, Ryan Christie can do it. There’s a flexibility about them.

“We need to get Griff back in and around it to give us more depth and support. The sooner he gets fit, the better.

“He’s been doing some physical work with the fitness coaches and we’re hoping he starts training on Thursday.

“We’re getting goals from all over and that may be magnified if we were to lose Odsonne for any period of time.”

Celtic have a lot of games before now and the end of the year – fighting on three fronts and hoping to have a trophy in the bag before Santa comes. We will need Leigh back for some of these games to take the burden off Eddy. Like last year – the Frenchman rose to the occasion and dug Celtic out some holes when he was the only fit striker.
