In the last few months Jonny Russell hasn’t been far away from talking about his love for Celtic.

The player is currently enjoying the MLS off season and one of the things he got up to during his break was fly to Rome to watch Celtic bear Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.

The self admitted Celtic fan still harbours a dream to play for the club he supported as a bhoy. The lad made it clear on Clyde SSB on Wednesday night he would jump at the chance of a move to Celtic but admits it might not ever happen

“You never know, it’s not happened, maybe it won’t but you can always hope. I’ve enjoyed my time over there (MLS)” he told Clyde Superscoreboard.

“I’m in no rush to get back but it’s your boyhood team, if I came back all my family would get to see me as well.

“It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do, I’ve never hidden the fact that I’ve wanted to do that.”

Celtic are rich in players in the attacking positions Jonny occupies. There’s nothing to suggest Celtic will show any interest him in the future.

There was rumours back in the day it would happen when he was at Dundee Utd but it never materialised.

  1. There’s a reason why it hasnt happened, his games to goals ratio is not what Celtic need. he averages a goal every 3 games. its not the consistency required for Celtic
