Ange Postecoglou has delivered a vote of confidence to Giakoumakis ahead of the SPFL restart later this month.

The Greek striker hasn’t had the best of times so far. Getting up to match speed, injuries and that penalty miss against Livingston have all contributed to a less than ideal start.

The Celtic fans haven’t given up on the big Greek striker coming good and neither has the Hoops gaffer.

Speaking to Greek outlet Nova Sports, Ange Postecoglou said:

“I believe in him.

“He had a great season with Venlo. He came after preparation and he was a bit unlucky. Celtic is a great opportunity for his career. You saw what happened with Samaras”

The football is set to return in January 17th. If Giakoumakis is fit, there’s certainly going to be game time for the striker.

Kyogo and perhaps other Japanese players heading out on international duty will present a massive opportunity for the big man.

Ange evoking memories of Samsras in a Celtic jersey. A frustratingly talented striker who became a fan favourite in the end.

There’s still a long way to go this season and we need to utilise our whole squad if we’re to claw back a six point deficit.

Ange is Greek born but moved to Australia at a very early age where he resides until football took him across the world. He really does keep tabs on Greek and Australian footballers and has done over the years.
