PATRICK ROBERTS looks to have fallen victim to the strangest deal of the summer with regards to Man City’s acquisition of Girona and the winger’s subsequent move to the Spanish club.

Pointed out by the fountain of football knowledge that is @Barcabhoy1 – the Englishman has seen very little game time and has had little chance to make an impact.

Here are the bare facts from Transfer Markt.

Man City bought a major stake in the Spanish club this summer – tying together the money men at City with Pep Guardiola and his brother Pere.

Girona currently has SIX Man City players on their books and Patrick Roberts seems to be getting lost in the shuffle.

Girona has picked up just nine points in their first eight games as they fight for top-flight survival.

Leaving Celtic in the summer, Roberts was optimistic about his chances of making a breakthrough in England before the Girona move came up. Pep’s family affair and insistence on sending his unwanted talent to Spain could have hindered the wee man’s career.

The midfielder is now staring at a serious career choice come January. If he doesn’t start playing does he demand his deal be cut short in order to go get game time elsewhere?

By January Roberts will only have a year and a half left on his City deal. Will they choose to cash in on the player?

Should Celtic be asking the question?

I know it’s been done to death but Celtic should never turn their nose up at any opportunity to bring someone as creative as Roberts back to the club.
