Celtic striker Jonathan Afolabi looks set to depart the club in the January window, with reports suggesting that the Hoops hierarchy are willing to listen to offers for the Ireland u21 internationalist.

Since joining from English Premier League side, Southampton in 2019, Afolabi’s Celtic career has failed to get kick-started, with the Irishman not making an appearance in the first-team under either Neil Lennon or Ange Postecoglou.

The young striker has spent several loan spells in the Scottish Championship with Dunfermline, Dundee and played the first half of the campaign at Ayr United, scoring one goal in 16 appearances.

As reported by the Daily Record, that loan at Somerset Park could be cut short with the club willing to listen to offers for Afolabi, who is heading into the final six months of his contract at Parkhead.

The report also suggests that a host of English Championship and League One sides are interested in bringing the frontman back down south.

After a slightly disappointing time in Glasgow for the young Irishman, a fresh start is likely best for all parties.
