English footballer and pundit Jamie O’Hara was caught up in a storm this week when he claimed Rangers were not as big a Bournemouth. This spiked a revolt from not just Rangers fans but a lot of Celtic fans were perplexed by the comments made.

O’Hara claimed since making the comment his phone has been lit up with Scottish journalists wanting interviews.

SunSport has run with a very tasteless headline today after O’Hara admitted his family back in Ireland are Celtic fans, trying to twist it as some sort of dig from someone with a Celtic affiliation. In reality, O’Hara doesn’t support either Glasgow club.

However, asked by Max Rushden who he preferred O’Hara did make a simple choice and then really rubbed it in with a ten in a row claim.

“Well, my family in Northern Ireland are Celtic fans so I would have to say Celtic.”

“You’re not going to stop them doing ten in a row.”

Speaking about the Bournemouth comment, O’Hara was trying to take it in stride but you could tell he was a bit jarred by the publicity after the comment. TalkSport will love that sort of shock-jock comments.

“It [his phone] lit up mate. I had someone from a newspaper phone me and he had a Scottish accent, and as soon as I answered the phone I put it straight down.

“They said they wanted to have an interview and I was not interested, phone off.

“I don’t take it [social media] seriously. I like to have a laugh with it, I take it in good spirit, I never want to really offend anyone. It is all a laugh.”
