The 22-year-old will miss Celtic’s games before the New Year, unable to be registered until the January window opens. It won’t stop him from training with his new teammates, though, with the 22-year-old expected to join the players in Portugal for the training camp.

Yuki is a defender who is comfortable with the ball at his feet. He can pick out a pass and is keen to move the ball forward, while he remains cool and calm defensively.

Speaking to CeltsAreHere and other fan media outlets, Yuki Kobayashi said:

“In terms of defence, as a centre-back, I need to be very strong. We always have a high line, and I have to contribute with that. In terms of attacking, the manager wants me to create passes vertically and help to build attacks.”

It’ll be interesting to see the playing time afforded to the player this season. He’ll be bedded in slowly, with no rush to consistently get him in the starting lineup.

He’ll be looking to displace Starfelt in the long run, but it will be challenging to take over the position from the Swede, who’s impressed since his shaky start to his Celtic career.

  1. Don’t you think CCV head wont be turned by performing in the World Cup??? All players are replaceable except MacGregor, who has been loyal to the core. As for the others… we’ll see!!!
