YUKI KOBAYASHI is officially a Celtic player, arriving at Lennoxtown today. He’ll join up with the Bhoys soon and head off to Portugal to participate in a training camp as he looks to maintain his fitness levels before he can play in January.

Celtic have confirmed that the Japanese defender will wear the number 18 on his back, taking the number from Tom Rogic, who left the club in June when his contract expired.

Rogic’s move was a surprise, especially when he didn’t find a new club immediately. He’s now struggling for minutes with West Brom and wasn’t called up to the Austalia squad for the World Cup.

Yuki Kobayashi will be eased into the Celtic squad, unlike Hatate and Maeda last season. He’ll have time to settle in before making his debut too, which is a big advantage for the player.

The 22-year-old still has development ahead of him in the eyes of the manager but has gained enough experience in Japan to merit his move to Celtic.
