Celtic have registered an interest in West Brom defender George Campbell.
The USA international, 24, has made 38 appearances and chipped in with four goals across the campaign but it has been one to forget for the Baggies.
West Brom sit 21st in the EFL Championship table and have had a poor campaign, but Campbell has been one of the shining lights.
He was nominated for April’s player of the month.
CeltsAreHere understands that Celtic have held discussions over the possibility of moving for the right-sided centre-half; a position the Hoops have been desperate to fill on a permanent basis since Cameron Carter-Vickers picked up an injury.
It is also understood the fee involved would be around £2.5million to convince WBA to part with their player who still has three years left on his current contract at the Hawthorns.
The player – after just one season with WBA – has a number of interested parties including top Championship clubs and sides in the Bundesliga.
Campbell counts Atlanta in the MLS among his former clubs and previously turned out for Montreal, where he was snapped up – ironically – as cover for Alistair Johnston who moved to Glasgow in 2022.
Interest in Campbell comes after reports in Poland claiming Celtic had submitted an offer in January for Cracovia defender Oskar Wojcik.
Benjamin Arthur will return to Brentford in the summer which will leave Celtic light on the right side of their central pairing, with both Liam Scales and Auston Trusty naturally left-sided. Dane Murray has deputised at times but a more experienced star would be preferred.
