Celtic Women have added to Grant Scott’s backroom staff ahead of the new SWPL season, with Stewart Hall appointed as the club’s new assistant coach.
Hall arrives with plenty of experience across the Scottish women’s game and reunites with Scott after the pair worked together at Hibernian.
The Cleland native joined Hibs in March 2023 and was part of the coaching team that lifted the 2024/25 SWPL title. Before that, he enjoyed a successful spell in charge of Kilmarnock Women, guiding the club to the SWPL 2 title and securing a historic promotion from the third tier during his four years at the helm.
Assistant coaching roles at Motherwell and Partick Thistle followed before his move to Easter Road, where he continued to build his reputation.
Hall also brings international experience to Lennoxtown. He recently joined up with Michael McArdle’s Northern Ireland senior women’s coaching staff as assistant coach for their 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign. He has also worked within the Scotland set-up with the under-23 side.
Speaking after Hall’s arrival was confirmed, Scott welcomed the familiar face to his coaching team, saying (Celtic FC):
“Stewart is an experienced coach who has worked with a number of teams in Scotland and at international level.
“Obviously having had success with Stewart in the past, I’m hoping we can bring that to this club alongside the rest of the backroom team.
“We’re delighted to welcome Stewart ahead of the new season, he’s already worked on the pitch with a number of the players, so they’ll know first-hand the quality he’ll bring on a daily basis.”
Hall joins a Celtic side looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2025/26 league campaign, though they did defeat Rangers to clinch the Scottish Cup in June.
Having made history by winning the club’s first SWPL title in the 2023/24 season, expectations remained high, but Celtic were unable to mount another successful challenge as Hearts claimed the championship last term.
Scott now has the task of rebuilding that momentum, and the addition of Hall strengthens a coaching staff that will hope to get Celtic back into the title conversation.
Scott and his backroom team will be hoping to make a positive start to what they will expect to be a far stronger season.
