Celtic boss Martin O’Neill has eased fears over Mika Baur ahead of Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup quarter-final against Rangers.
Baur had scored the winner in Wednesday night’s 1-0 victory over St Johnstone and played the full 90 minutes at McDiarmid Park.
However, O’Neill has now confirmed there is no major issue.
He said: (Sky Sports), “He’s fine. He is actually fine.
“He just picked up a bit of a knock but will be available to train tomorrow, so he’s okay.”
That is a major boost for Celtic ahead of the weekend.
Baur has started to settle quickly following his summer move and opened his account for the club with the decisive goal in Perth.
His late run into the box to finish Haissem Hassan’s delivery also showed another side of his game, with the midfielder beginning to add more attacking threat from deeper areas.
Friday’s training absence had created some doubt over whether he would be involved at Ibrox, but O’Neill’s update has now cleared that up.
O’Neill still has several decisions to make in midfield, with Benjamin Nygren, Oliver Sørensen, Callum McGregor and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also among his options.
But having Baur available gives him one less concern before Celtic head across Glasgow.
The 22-year-old had already spoken about looking forward to his first experience of the fixture and now looks set to be part of the squad on Sunday.
